Near the future Soho Warehouse
Urbanize spotted a presentation on 1024 Mateo compiled for the Downtown LA Neighborhood Council that offers more details and the first glimpses of the Gensler-designed project, which is slated to rise on a property between Bay and Sacramento streets.
Developed by Dart Partners LLC and Mateo Arts LLC, 1024 Mateo would hold 106 live/work condos, nine of which would be available to very low-income households, plus about 120,000 square feet of commercial space, including roughly 13,000 square feet of restaurants and almost 14,000 square feet of retail.
The northern part of the development, closer to Seventh Street, would hold the residential units, while other uses would be in the southern part of the new project would contain the office space and a rooftop restaurant.
Parking for the project would be in an underground parking garage and above-ground parking screened from view. In total, there would be room for 402 cars to park in the development.
The mixed-use development at 1024 Mateo will be in a burgeoning area of the Arts District, which has been creeping south of Seventh Street in recent years. Within a block of the site, a members-only Soho Warehouse could open any day now, a large office, retail, and residential development is in the works, and a nine-story office and retail building is planned.
